DONT FALL IN LOVE
postat de bbee | in categoria tutoriale
Well hello and welcome to my 1st tutorial. I expect it not to be perfect (since it’s my 1st try) that’s why every suggestion would mean a lot to me. I wasn’t sure either to write in English or Romanian, but as you can see I made up my mind.
Enough with the introduction, lets get to work :
STEP 1.
Create a new document. Set the Width to 1000px and height to 1100px (the size doesn’t really matter).
Add a new layer and call it RED (this thing doesn’t matter also, but we will fill it with red) Set the brush color to #d83138 and hit ALT+BACKSPACE (the layer will be filled with this color; also you can delete the background layer too).
Select the Pollygonal Lasso Tool and make a selection as in the picture bellow.
Cut and paste it back as a new layer. Name the layer (let’s say…) REDWALL (it will be like a wall).
Double click on the layer (in the layer pannel – hotkey F7), go to Gradient Overlay and add one with the following settings:

- color range – from #cc0e16 to #390000\
- opacity is set to 100%
- select the Reverse option
- style is Liniar
- scale it to 15%
- the tricky part comes now : I set the angle to 124 but it might be different for your work so try to adjust the angle so the result is similar to the one in the photo bellow:

Done with the gradient so far (we will come back later for some tricks). Select 1st layer you’ve created (the one named RED), use the Pollygonal Lasso Tool and do the a selection as in picture above.
Cut it and paste it back as a new layer; name it RED_TOP and place it in front of the REDWALL layer. You must scale it just a bit : CTRL+T and make it 105% and 105%. Do the same for the rest of the RED layer (the lower part of the RED layer) and we’re done with the 1st step.
STEP 2.
Ok now … we start with the text. Select a typeface, I used Tahoma Bold and type (whatever u like). Rasterize the text (for that : just select the BLUR Tool and try to blur the text and you will get the message you must click OK ). Align the text to left, select all the 3 layers (with text), Right-Click on them and use Merge Layers (as in picture).

The tricky part comes now : select the text layer, use CTRL+T to start adjusting, Right-Click adn select Distorm to get this result.

It may be hard for beginners but practice makes perfect. Note that depending on your image size and resolution your text might get some ugly pixels.
Lets continue : Move the text a bit over the border. Add a new layer, name it Line1. Draw some guidelines (as in picture; I used some coz my hand was shaking like hell, but if you can manage without them its ok) and make the following selection and fill it with white.

Do the same for all 4 letters : L O V E (or the word you chose) and in the end you should get something like this :

STEP 3.
Here comes the rough part of this tutorial: select the text layer and cut each letter as in the picture below.

Note : You might wanna create a group for each word as DONT , FALL IN and LOVE group.
After u selected the letter copy-paste it (it will become a new layer – name it D,O,N,T, etc). Place the D layer in group DON’T and duplicate it (the letter, not the group); the duplicated layer must be unde the D layer. Go to Layer Style and check the Color Overlay , select the colour black (#000000). Go to Filter – Blur – Gaussian Blur and apply it with a radius of 2px.

You will have to repeat this proces for each letter : D O N T F A L L I N.
Last word : LOVE. Here we have to copy and paste each letter, as for the previous letter, but after you duplicate the letter select it’s “tale” (dunno what to call it) and merge both layers.

Then apply the layer style you used for the other letters and the blur filter. In the end your text should look like this:

STEP 4.
We will have to add the “windy” effect for each letter. For that do the fallowing :
- Select the D – Layer (or your 1st letter layer) – CTRL+T to start Free Transforming, Right-Click, then select WRAP and gently adjust your letter as in the picture bellow (or in your own way) :

- Select the D Copy (or your shadow layer) – and erase some parts of it (gently) so the shadow looks more realistic
- Do the same for each letter and you should come to something like this :

Now we have to add one more shadow over the TALES. Duplicate the Redwall layer and place it over the WORDS GRUP. Go to layer styles , remove the gradient overlay and add a Color Overlay with Black. Go to Filter – Blur – Gaussian Blur and set the radius : 80 px.

Don’t be scared of what you get, we’ll fix it in a second. With your Move Tool, drag the layer a bit down till u get it like this:

Use the erase tool, pick a soft brush and set the radius to 300px and softly adjust the top edge of the layer.

Last thing : make a new layer, put it on top, select a soft brush with a 300px radius, go to your left botom of the picture, and click. Go to you layer styles select : hard light, with a 56% opacity and 80% fill and it’s all done :
Well … hope you enjoyed it and was usefull to you. Have fun !

Altfel, keep it up and pointed!
Oh my God, you are so cool! When I grow up, I wanna be just like you. :)
john, as far as I know you’re already a GROWNUP so … let me put this as friendly as I can : you FAILED ! :))
:)) sunt total de acord. si eu ma bucur ca ai facut un tutorial, asa poate invat si eu sa lucrez cu photoshop-ul. e foarte misto facut, iar dc era serios nici nu-l bagam in seama :)
